Travelers Up for Grabs as Tourism Starts to Gear Up

While the future of tourism might not be crystal clear, one thing is certain, with safety top of mind and despite the ongoing concern around the delta variant, travelers vaccinated or not, are eager, ready, and able to travel. Life is now beyond when will the pandemic be over and is very much how to adapt and move on within it.  Economists travel experts, and destination marketing specialists around the world all agree global tourism is coming back and it’s going to boom in a very new way.  With travelers ready to hit the skies both international and domestic for travel of any kind, businesses, destinations, and brands should be gearing up to reap the rewards. The recent announcement by the U.S to ease travel restrictions for vaccinated international tourism (from specific countries) destination marketing experts predict will give the global tourism industries the boost they need to restart the future of travel.

The travel industry is slowly starting to move again and a recent Price Waterhouse Cooper survey confirmed this. What is unveiled in this report is that consumers that take a trip in this new travel environment are far more willing to travel again. The numbers are encouraging. For someone in the travel space, this got me excited.  This particular survey also revealed that 58% of those travelers who had already experienced this travel environment were more likely to book additional air travel within the next three months. (Someone starts tracking that data pattern please, lol !). Also interesting in this survey is that the respondents shared that travel advisors are helping people travel safely during pandemic times and that 80% of travelers make their travel choices based on how they are communicated to by the destinations and brands they patron. Travelers are relying heavily on communications directly from airlines, hotels, short-term rentals, and destinations to make travel choices.  And not necessarily from brands, they have previously entrusted. Consumer behavior has shown that throughout the pandemic brand loyalty has been up for grabs and travel destinations have been no exception.  There has never been a time that the American consumer both vaccinated or not has been more marketable for travel and those who are traveling aren’t just taking one quick trip. They plan on taking two or more trips, with 71% visiting new destinations for the first time.  American consumers are spending more per trip than ever before and are willing to pay for the ease of making their travel experience hassle-free.

Are business and brands ready to reap the rewards of the next wave of pent-up Travel Demand?
